Avitohol. I remember it fondly. My travels take me many places. All of the Calixis Sector and beyond. I have seen many wonders, and many horrors. Through it all, Avitohol and its nomadic people hold a very special place in my heart. From the Tanduski Steppe to the jungles of Rham. The northern plains of San'Vae to the vast southern Manticore Desert. All of it breathes a certain freedom best expressed by the nomads who call this planet home. Though they are all different, they are still bound with the same spirit. Many people who have only heard of these simple folk believe they are no more than simple herdsman. No, they are so very much more. To stand in any of their lands and hear the recital of the Shaka Vel, the story of the Emperor that had been passed down among them far before the Angevin Crusade found the planet, and feel the power of the story with all it's woven rhythm and rime. To take part in a hunt with Avitohol Talhunds at your side. To bask in the glory of bringing a heard of Altivor to market. I truly believe that these simple people embody the kind of love for life that many guru and wise men take decades, sometimes centuries, to find.
Oh, but I am wasting my time. Words do no justice, my friend. No, Avitohol must be experienced. It must be lived. Like the nomads who call that world home, it must be part of your spirit. Only then can you truly understand Avitohol.
And that. That makes me weep for it even more. You see, Avitohol is lost. In one great, green swoop, the orks of Waaagh! Grimtoof have conquered Avitohol. It's people are lost, save for ten thousand who now serve the Emperor through the Imperial Guard. Come, I've prepared some drava'sapo for us while we talk of Avitohol. The Empire has closed off all information about the planet, and the fate of its people. You know me, though. Nothing escapes my attention. We will talk of this beautiful planet. And after we are drunk off drava'sapo, and we are a little more crazy than we usually are...we will talk of the ways we can return this beautiful planet back to its people.
