From space, the planet of Avitohol shines like a polished Coseflame sapphire. A vast ocean covers much of the planet, and only two linked continents represent dry land. The two continents are Gia'Sha and Morator. The Great Ocean also holds thousands of islands, most unexplored and uninhabited. The largest islands are of the Capronican Chain.
The tribal herdsmen that Avitohol is most famous for live on Gia'Sha. It is a land covered with rolling plains in most parts, though near each coast lays vast mountain ranges. In the north, cold plains dominate, followed by tundra and than the ice cap. To the far south is the Manticore Desert, a vast wasteland inhabited by none but vagabonds and a community of off world outcasts who had formed a small community at the very southern tip of the continent.
Morator. Imagine the Manticore Desert ten-fold. Compared to the fertile lands of Gia'Sha, the continent of Morator is a vast wasteland of nothing. Yet, people do live there. Long ago a powerful nomad tribe swept throughout Gia'Sha, conquering and killing. They imagined an empire that would last for eternity. They failed. The nomads of Gia'Sha cast these people out of there lands. Over the north ice-caps and into the Moragor wastes. All other tribes have been forbidden to enter those lands, and Imperial Survey teams who have ventured into those lands have disappeared without a trace. Rumor has it that even the Ork forces who have tried to venture into the dark land have themselves simply...disappeared.
It's fair to say that taking to the ocean is something most of the inhabitants of Avitohol. There are even plenty of tribal superstitions that hold that there are evil gods who call the water home, ready to feast on any mortal who dares float over there home. Yet there are people who call the islands of the Great Ocean home. A small population of people who are genetically different than the nomads of Avitohol live mostly on the Capronican Chain of islands. These dark skinned people have had little or no contact with the people of Gia'Sha, let alone the Imperium of Man. Yet according to the Heclihi Scrolls of the Al'Kareb, these people hold some sort of important role in the future of the tribes of Gia'Sha.
